Activity (Specifications/test method): N/A

Biological activity: Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. Immobilized human FCER1A at 2 μg/ml (100 μl/well). The concentration of Human IgE that produces 50% of the optimal binding response is found to be approximately 0.1 - 0.4 µg/ml.

Unit Definition: N/A

Molecular Weight: This protein is fused with 6×His tag at the C-terminus, has a calculated MW of 21.9 kDa. The predicted N-terminus is Val 26. DTT-reduced Protein migrates as 40-60 kDa due to glycosylation.

Concentration: N/A

Appearance: Lyophilized

Physical form description: Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH 7.4. Normally Mannitol or Trehalose is added as protectants before lyophilization.

Reconstitution Instructions: Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile PBS, pH 7.4 to a concentration of 50 µg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 month. For extended storage, it is recommended to store at -20°C.

Background Information: High affinity immunoglobulin epsilon receptor subunit alpha (FCER1A) is also known as Fc-epsilon RI-alpha (FcERI), IgE Fc receptor subunit alpha, FCE1A. FCER1A contains two Ig-like (immunoglobulin-like) domains. FCER1A binds to the Fc region of immunoglobulins epsilon and is a high affinity receptor. FCER1A is responsible for initiating the allergic response, which binding of allergen to receptor-bound IgE leads to cell activation and the release of mediators (such as histamine) responsible for the manifestations of allergy. The same receptor also induces the secretion of important lymphokines. FCER1A plays a central role in allergic disease, coupling allergen and mast cell to initiate the inflammatory and immediate hypersensitivity responses that are characteristic of disorders such as hay fever and asthma.

Amino acid sequence: N/A

Handling: Centrifuge the vial prior to opening.
